Do you follow the Province of Nova Scotia’s curriculum?

Yes, as a starting point. We also provide an enriched curriculum by enhancing language arts through our proprietary reading program; offering a comprehensive fine arts program of which the award winning MusIQ Program is a part.  French is delivered starting with the Preschool programs.

Do you have “split” classes?

No. We offer multi-age, multi-level classes which support learning as a continuum, rather than a series of steps. This allows students to learn at their own pace. Older children develop quality leadership and responsibility skills while younger children are stimulated intellectually by older children.  Multi-level/age classes over a two year span allow students to experience both older and younger roles in the classroom.

Do you offer French?

Yes. We offer French as part of our core curriculum. Exposure to French begins with our Preschool students.

Do you provide lunch?

Yes, we do provide a lunch program with reasonably priced meals that follow Food and Nutrition regulations. We do not use refined sugars, and some meals will use non-dairy options such as coconut milk. We make use of fresh fruits and vegetables in our meals.  Students may brown bag their lunch as well.

I worry that our child isn’t learning in his current school

We blend both standardized and individualized teaching methods so that we can meet the unique needs of each student because we know every child learns differently. Our small class sizes, one-on-one time and our proprietary reading programs help children to be effective learners. We work collaboratively to ensure student success.

What is your Behaviour Management approach with students?

Behaviour management is respectful of the student and may include redirection until able to participate in the class, and "community service" activities which allow the student to give back to the teacher or class.  The complete policy is found in our Parent Handbook.

What qualifications do your teachers have?

All of our private Day School teachers have a Bachelor of Education degree and they regularly engage in professional development to further enrich their roles in the classroom.
